In 1956 Robert H. Miller purchased
Vienna Beauty Products Co., a manufacturer of professional
beauty products located in Chicago. The Company was
relocated to Dayton, Ohio. Vienna Beauty Products
manufactured numerous products for the salon trade
including: permanent waves; shampoos; cream rinses
and a hand lotion called Triple Lanolin.
The professional hair stylists whose
hands suffered from the damaging effects of shampoo,
permanent wave-solution and bleach found that this
rich lanolin lotion, Triple Lanolin, greatly helped
heal their rough red hands. During the next 10 years
(1956 to 1966), Vienna Beauty Products expanded Triple
Lanolin distribution in the professional trade, and
Triple Lanolin Lotion became the "professional's
choice" in skin care. In the early 1960's Vienna
introduced a gift package of Triple Lanolin Lotion
that was sold to salons as Christmas favors. By developing
very creative gift packages, Vienna Beauty Products
became a leader in the Christmas favor market, and
millions of "purse size" tubes of Triple
Lanolin Lotion were being given to salon patrons each
Christmas. Over the past 30 years, nearly fifty million
"purse-size" tubes of Triple Lanolin Skin
Care products have been given to salon patrons as
holiday treats.
Salon patrons who received the Christmas
favors discovered that Triple Lanolin Lotion was superior
to the lotions they were using, and many of them wanted
to purchase larger sizes of Triple Lanolin Lotion
from their salons. Salon retail sales of Triple Lanolin
increased significantly during the 1960's, but at
that time, many salons did not take advantage of the
opportunity that salon retailing offered. After the
Christmas holidays, Vienna Beauty Products Co. would
receive thousands of letters from salon patrons, all
asking where they could purchase more Triple Lanolin
Lotion.
Consumer demand for Triple Lanolin
Lotion was growing as a result of the millions of
"purse-size" tubes which were being distributed
through beauty salons. Based on the volume of consumer
requests, Vienna introduced Triple Lanolin Lotion
to the retail drug-store trade in Kentucky, Michigan
and Ohio. It became apparent that Triple Lanolin's
brand recognition was strong in the retail market,
and that this market offered a great potential for
future growth. Over the years, Triple Lanolin's retail
distribution has expanded to all 50 states.
As new trends in skin care have evolved,
the Triple Lanolin Skin Care line has grown to include:
The Original Triple Lanolin Lotion, Triple Lanolin
Cocoa Butter Creme, Triple Lanolin Aloe Vera Lotion,
Triple Lanolin Hand and Nail Conditioner, and most
recently, Triple Lanolin Mango Vera Lotion as well
as Triple Lanolin Mango Vera Body Butter.
